The emergence of the Department of Higher Mathematics practically coincides with the founding of the Polytechnic Institute in December 1920. From 1944 to 1949, the head of the department was Vasily Leontyevich Levkovich, associate professor, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences. From 1949 to 1975, the head of the department was Natalya Vasilievna Popova, associate professor, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences. From 1975 to 1998 and from 1999 to 2010, the Department of Higher Mathematics of the Machine-Building Profile was headed by Nikolai Aleksandrovich Mikulik, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Belarus. Mikulik N. A. is a recognized specialist in the field of mathematical modeling and research of complex dynamic systems, the author of more than 350 scientific and methodological manuals, including 10 textbooks, two monographs, two inventions and three patents. From 1998 to 1999, the department was headed by Anatoly Vladimirovich Metelsky, professor, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences. Since May 2010, the department has been headed by Irina Nikolaevna Katkovskaya, associate professor, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences. Since February 2019, on the basis of the departments "Higher Mathematics No. 1" and "Higher Mathematics No. 2", the Department "Higher Mathematics" has been created
