Internship at Northeastern University

From July 1 to 17, 2024, students from Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) and the Confucius Institute of Science and Technology at BNTU visited Northeastern University in Shenyang, China, one of the leading technical universities in the country. The participants explored the university’s modern academic buildings and laboratories, with the warm hospitality of Northeastern University’s students and faculty enhancing their Chinese language learning experience.

Highlights of the internship included a tour of the university’s Technology and Innovation Center, showcasing advanced technologies and innovative projects, with particular interest in robotics and artificial intelligence. In addition to Chinese language classes, the program featured workshops on traditional Chinese arts such as tea ceremonies, paper cutting, and sculpture, led by skilled instructors who shared the cultural significance of these arts. Participants were impressed with their own creations and the expertise of their teachers.

The itinerary also included visits to one of China’s largest zoos, where participants observed rare and exotic animals, including pandas and tigers, and explored historic sites such as the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Forbidden City. The trip also featured excursions to Beichen, known for its natural hot springs, and Bixia Mountain Island, a picturesque location connected by a narrow isthmus that appears only during low tide.
