The Belarusian National Technical University is famous for its prestigious education, and in 2024, declared the Year of Quality, this was confirmed again. Let's recall 10 significant achievements in the field of education of the past year.

Apply to University in a right way: Results of the BNTU Admission Campaign

Every year BNTU admits thousands of students, and the 2024 admission campaign was no exception. A total of 6,179 applications were processed during the document acceptance period. 4,379 people became students of the Polytechnic University, including:

  • 71 were admitted in excess of the admission plan;
  • 279 medalists and graduates of secondary specialized educational institutions with honors degrees;
  • 23 graduated from the National Children's Technopark and took advantage of admission benefits (were admitted without entrance examinations based on the interview results);
  • 8 graduates of pedagogical classes;
  • 950 graduates of lyceums and gymnasiums;
  • 861 scored 300 points or more;
  • 44 have a 100-point result on the CE/CT.

Youth in Science: How the “School of Young Scientists – 2024” took place

"School of the Young Scientist" is a unique platform, the audience of which was 350 young scientists from the leading universities of the country, representatives of the National Academy of Sciences, the Russian Institute of Higher Education, the High-Tech Park, students, master's students, postgraduates and teachers of all Belarusian universities. Particular attention was paid to the development of the startup movement, the implementation of innovative projects.

The project lasted for 5 days, and here are its main events:

  • plenary session with the participation of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Ivanets, the rector of BNTU Sergei Kharitonchik and the chairperson of the Council of Young Scientists under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus Anastasia Kiselevich;
  • a conversation about the benefits and harms of neural networks in scientific research, a discussion of current issues of using artificial intelligence technologies, endless opportunities for young researchers and innovative entrepreneurship as an opportunity to commercialize scientific research, as well as a discussion of the problems of incorrect borrowings in education and science;
  • lectures and seminars on supporting talented youth, segmenting the target audience, attracting the attention of listeners through the presentation of scientific papers, oratory skills in scientific activity and effective defense of scientific papers at conferences;
  • collective discussion on the topic "Youth analytical movement "Future of Belarus" as a format for constructive youth activity" (the speaker was the analyst of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies Evgeny Kharuk);
  • Closing ceremony and tour of the National Children's Technopark.

BNTU students are scholarship holders of the President's special fund

According to the decision of the Council of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for Social Support of Gifted Pupils and Students, scholarships of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the first semester of the 2023/24 academic year in the amount of 194.53 BYN per month were assigned to 11 BNTU students.

In addition, special prizes were awarded to BNTU students who won the V Republican Competition of Professional Skills and the XXIX Republican Competition of Students' Scientific Works.

Final of the Professional Skills Championship "Professionals-2024"

From November 25 to 30, the final of the “Professionals-2024” championship in professional skills was held in St. Petersburg at the EXPOFORUM convention and exhibition center. The competition was held in 55 competencies of the main age category and 20 for juniors. There were more than 900 contestants and more than 500 experts. The best students of professional educational institutions, young specialists from companies, high school students and participants from 18 friendly countries met in the final: Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Syria, Armenia, etc.

Nikolai Nagel, a fourth-year full-time student of the Faculty of Transport Communications, studying in the specialty "geodesy", represented the Republic of Belarus and the Belarusian National Technical University at the championship. He showed a worthy result and won a silver medal and second place in the international standings.

International experience and prospects: what opportunities does BNTU provide to students?

The Belarusian National Technical University consistently provides its students with qualitative education, as well as a wide range of opportunities for professional growth and international experience. One of the key areas of this work is international training programs that allow students to gain practical skills, broaden their horizons and establish valuable contacts in various countries around the world.

Thanks to the university's international cooperation, students have the opportunity to develop in their field and take steps to improve industries in our country. In addition, they gain cultural experience while studying abroad, and it is not limited to the narrow framework of professional activity. This includes traveling, visiting historical sites, getting acquainted with art and literature, which helps to broaden horizons, develop creative thinking and form a more holistic perception of the world.

Participation in the projects "Summer University - 2024" in Kazan and "Winter University of Engineering Sciences" in St. Petersburg

From July 8 to 22, students of the Faculty of Power Engineering, under the guidance of Natalia Frantskevich, senior lecturer of the Department of Technical Physics, took part in the Russian educational project "Summer University", implemented at the Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University (KFU). For two weeks, the students, together with students from 13 other countries, studied, communicated, exchanged ideas, and created social projects.

St. Petersburg, in turn, as part of the "Winter University" hosted 220 young people from 63 universities in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Tajikistan, China, South Africa, Iran, and India.

"Winter University" was distinguished by awards for the best participants, which included two BNTU students. The winners' diplomas were brought home by Mechislav Slizavsky in the nomination "Digital Transformation and Lean Manufacturing Laboratory" and Roman Borisyuk in the nomination "Computer Engineering Design Laboratory".

BNTU delegation at the II World Conference on Teaching Chinese

From November 15 to 17, the BNTU delegation consisting of Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work Timur Matyushinets, Directors of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology of BNTU Vladimir Kleyenkov (from the Belarusian side) and Li Wenxue (from the Chinese side) took part in the 2nd World Conference on Teaching Chinese. The theme of the event was "Communication, Integration, Continuity, Innovation". The event included the following sections: "HSK Global Partnership Conference", "The Use of HSK and Other Language Assessments Promotes the Development of International Talents", "Creation and Development of a Localization System for International Teaching of the Chinese Language", "Youth Exchange and International Mutual Understanding", etc.

The conference was organized by the Center for International Language Exchanges and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the China International Education Foundation and the International Society for Teaching Chinese with the support of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. More than 2,000 people from more than 160 countries took part in it.

Congratulations to the 2024 grant recipients

The results of the competition of research works of doctoral students, postgraduates, applicants and students for their implementation at the expense of the republican budget funds provided by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus for the allocation of grants for 2024 were summed up.

Among the grant holders are young scientists of BNTU, who presented scientific works in five areas:

  • "Laser, optical, optical-, opto-, micro- and radio electronic technologies and systems";
  • "Interdisciplinary research. Promising emerging technologies";
  • "New materials for industry, medicine and construction, high-tech technologies for their production. Metallurgical and foundry processes";
  • "Mechanical engineering. Systems and complexes of agricultural machinery. Control and diagnostics in mechanical engineering";
  • "Socio-economic and spiritual-cultural development of the Republic of Belarus".

Ceremonial meeting of the BNTU Council: awarding of outstanding employees and presentation of diplomas with honors

In the summer, on July 5, a ceremonial meeting of the BNTU Council was held. During this meeting 13 diplomas were given to graduates of 2024 who completed their studies with honors.

In addition, as part of the awards ceremony, the guests of honor were presented with the following awards:

  • a badge and a certificate of "Honorary Veteran of BNTU" - to Vladimir Bobkov;
  • a badge and a certificate of "Honorary Graduate" - to Vladimir Labunov.

BNTU at the “Festival of Science – 2024”

At the beginning of the academic year, on September 7, the Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus hosted the "Science Festival - 2024", one of the participants of which was the Belarusian National Technical University. Thematic stands on space, ecology, ethnography, medicine and much more were open to those present all day long. Guests could take part in master classes, quizzes, interactive activities, listen to various lectures and try their luck in numerous raffles. In turn, higher education institutions of Belarus took part in the sites called "100 Innovations of Young Scientists" and "University of the Future".

We can confidently say that 2024 was another breakthrough in the field of quality education for our university. The management creates a favorable platform for students to achieve high results, and they, in turn, actively use this. We are confident that in 2025 our students will conquer new heights!
