Yesterday, on May 6, a solemn meeting of the delegations of the XXI International Student Athletics Race "Izhevsk – Nizhny Novgorod – Minsk" was held at the Kurgan Slavy memorial complex. The race is traditionally attended by teams from three sister universities: the Belarusian National Technical University, the Izhevsk State Technical University named after M. T. Kalashnikov, and the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R. E. Alekseev.
For your information, the International Student Race is a patriotic project that has been ongoing since 2003. The route connects three sister cities: Izhevsk, Nizhny Novgorod, and Minsk. Every year, university delegations start from one city and finish in another, with the culmination taking place on Victory Day. This year, the race began in Izhevsk and ended in Minsk.
At the opening ceremony at the Hill of Glory, the First Vice-Rector of BNTU, Andrey Safonov, addressed the participants.
"I am pleased to welcome you, dear guests, to our land. We meet and remember our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, and pay tribute to them for the heroic deeds they accomplished. More importantly, we plan to continue our support. This is our greatest gratitude to our ancestors for bringing us to this place today. Thank you so much.
The participants of the race laid flowers at the memorial and paid their respects to the fallen heroes, and also climbed the Hill of Glory to admire the breathtaking views.
After the rally, the students visited the BNTU Polytechnic Research and Technology Park, where they learned more about its developments. The tour was led by the General Director, Georgy Vershina. Georgy Alexandrovich shared information about the promising innovative projects being developed by students and young scientists.
– We came to your university to get to know it better, and it's great that we were able to visit such a unique place as the technology park. It's amazing that not only young scientists but also students are working here. This shows that the future is being created right now. Thank you for the inspiration and the warm welcome," said Ilya Kuzmin, a student at NSTU named after R. E. Alekseev.
The students have three days of a busy program ahead of them, which will culminate in the celebration of Victory Day in Minsk. Today, the participants will get to know Minsk and BNTU better, as well as meet with the university's leadership.
We wish the students a great experience and a boost of energy.
