Today, on May 10, the Republic of Belarus celebrates the Day of the National Flag, the National Emblem and the National Anthem of the Republic of Belarus. The holiday is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of May.
"Dear colleagues, dear students of the Belarusian National Technical University! I cordially congratulate you on the Day of the National Flag, the National Emblem and the National Anthem of the Republic of Belarus!
This holiday symbolizes the unity, sovereignty and historical continuity of our people, uniting all citizens around the main attributes of the country's independence. State symbols are the spiritual core of a nation, an expression of its sovereignty, historical continuity and unity. In an environment where external forces seek to replace our memory and identity, respect for the flag, coat of arms and anthem becomes an act of civic fortitude and loyalty to the Motherland.
Through your daily hard work at our university, you contribute to the development and strengthening of the independence of the Republic of Belarus. It is thanks to your knowledge, efforts, experience and patriotism that the future of our country is in safe hands.
I wish you good health, success in your professional activities and personal life. May cheerfulness, unity and pride for your Homeland always be your faithful companions!

Since 1917, the National Flag and the National Coat of Arms have been changed several times in Belarus. However, despite the differences, all variants of state symbols had a similar basis. Thus, the red color was always present on the flag as a symbol of courage, the struggle for freedom and the blood that was shed for the Fatherland. In the coat of arms, the rays of the rising sun were repeated from time to time, giving hope for a bright future, and a wreath of ears of corn, intertwined with a ribbon, personifying the diligence and generosity of the Belarusian land. Even when political eras were changing, this deep framework was preserved, linking different generations together and proving that modern symbols of sovereign Belarus have become a natural continuation of a centuries-old tradition.

It is no coincidence that the celebration of state symbols follows Victory Day. Belarusians went to independence through the storms of wars, and the people defended the value of peace and the opportunity to live and work freely in their native land under the Banner of Victory. The National Flag of the Republic of Belarus also keeps a piece of it.

According to the Constitution, the National Flag, the National Coat of Arms and the National Anthem are symbols of the sovereignty of the Republic of Belarus. The main symbols of Belarus were approved following the results of the republican referendum held on May 14, 1995. Tribute to the state symbols was paid in 1998, when the President of the Republic of Belarus signed a decree "On state holidays, public holidays and memorable dates in the Republic of Belarus." Then the annual celebration of the Day of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus and the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus was established on the second Sunday of May. Later, in April 2023, the name of the holiday changed somewhat and began to sound like the Day of the National Flag, the National Emblem and the National Anthem of the Republic of Belarus.

The state symbols of Belarus are not just official attributes, but the living embodiment of independence, peacefulness and the creative spirit of our country. This holiday has a unifying force, awakening sincere pride for their Homeland in the hearts of all Belarusians.
The annual celebration of the National Flag Day, the National Emblem and the National Anthem of the Republic of Belarus at the Belarusian National Technical University is always a special and solemn atmosphere that unites students, teachers and university management around true values. All the events held at the university during this period are aimed at fostering a sense of patriotism among young people, pride in their country and respect for its main attributes.

One of the key annual events at BNTU is invariably the republican youth relay race "Ganarusya rodnymi simvalami", which starts in the lobby of the main building of the university. These days, activists of the NGO "BRSM" with the rights of the RK BNTU, together with the students' educational program and the Department of Cultural Affairs, give everyone a piece of warmth and pride. The students knit memorable red and green ribbons with the symbols of our country for students and teachers, give badges with the image of the National Flag of the Republic of Belarus and congratulate everyone on the upcoming holiday.

However, the venue of the celebration is not limited to the campus. BNTU representatives are also becoming part of the citywide patriotic campaign "Symbols of Belarus – Symbols of Peace." Thousands of people gathered together sing the anthem, creating an atmosphere of real unity.

The events help to realize that state symbols are a link between times and generations, and thanks to them, future engineers and specialists honorably continue the traditions of their predecessors and make a worthy contribution to the prosperity of our Fatherland.

May the flag, coat of arms and anthem always be symbols of pride, identity and indestructible unity for Belarusians!
