In 1974 he graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute with a degree in engineer-physics.
In 1984 he defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate of technical sciences, in 1995 he defended his doctoral dissertation for the degree of doctor of physical and mathematical sciences.
Worked at NPO TsKTI im. I. I. Polzunov as head of the laboratory, deputy general director for science, general director. In the course of his activities, he carried out research and development in the fields of power engineering and energy.
He held the positions of technical director, general designer, general director in the power engineering company Power Machines JSC. While working for the company, he was engaged in scientific research and development in the field of advanced technologies and power equipment for thermal, hydraulic and nuclear power plants, power complexes for the navy. Currently he is working as a supervisor there.
He holds the position of Director of the Energy Institute of SPbPU. Peter the Great, where he manages scientific and educational activities in various areas of energy.
