Yesterday, on March 12, 2025, the opening of the XXXII Minsk International Book Fair took place. Traditionally, the Belarusian National Technical University participates among the exhibitors and guests of the event.
Every day of the fair is dedicated to one of the countries. According to the program of the five–day trip through the literature of nations, the opening day is Kazakhstan, then Kyrgyzstan, Russia, then on March 15, on the Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus, our country will be in the spotlight, and Armenia will become the final state.
This year, the exhibition and fair traditionally features international and educational quarters. The first provides an opportunity to get acquainted with the literature and culture of various countries represented by diplomatic missions, and the second includes presentations of educational and enlightening literature, master classes and interactive educational platforms. It was within the framework of the second that BNTU presented its activities.
Polytechnic University took a place of honor in the alley of higher education institutions, where it presented not only the works published in 2024 and 2025, but also educational services. Thus, among the exhibits are publications by BNTU employees, including, for example, the manual "Economics of Automobile Transport", published in 2025. It contains the necessary material on important issues of the economics of automobile transport, and the corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Economics, professor, associate professor and senior lecturer worked on its creation.
Speaking about career guidance work, not only applicants and their parents, but also representatives of educational and scientific organizations were interested in the changes in the admissions campaign. This year, special emphasis is placed on the new programs that Polytechnic offers to future engineers. Deputy Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee of the Automobile and Tractor Faculty (ATF) Yulia Osipova shared what visitors are interested in
- Parents and potential applicants, graduates of engineering classes, come to us. Admission is a topic that is relevant every year. Today, almost everyone is interested in the specifics of admission, because the admission rules have changed. We are happy to share all the nuances and hope to see current 11th-graders as Polytechnic students.
Yesterday afternoon, the grand opening ceremony took place. Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Pertsov read out a welcoming letter from the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the book fair and international symposium of writers.
— Dear friends! I congratulate you on the opening of the XXXII International Exhibition and Fair. The Minsk Fair, being a unique event in the social and cultural life of Belarus, has a high international status and attracts thousands of people every year. At all times, the book has been and remains the main source of knowledge, part of the intellectual heritage of ancestors. Today, the age of information technology contributes to the strengthening and unity of the Belarusian people and serves to educate the moral qualities of youth. I wish all participants and guests fruitful work, creative inspiration, interesting meetings and pleasant impressions.
The theme of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War runs through the event. Literature by classics and modern authors is widely represented in the exhibits and on the stands of publishing houses. The Minister of Information of the Republic of Belarus Marat Markov noted that books on military topics have been his preference since childhood.
- I have been interested in military literature since childhood. I must admit that the main book of my childhood was "The Book of Future Commanders" by Anatoly Mityaev. It is very important for people to read books. Wikipedia will not tell you everything, it will be rewritten tomorrow, and you will not notice. It is necessary to know history.
An interesting feature of the exhibition-fair is its interactivity. In addition to virtual stands, participants and guests can expect training, lectures and master classes from famous writers. After getting acquainted with a wide range of publishing houses, you can buy the books you like.
Traditionally, the international symposium of writers "Writer and Time" will be held within the framework of the exhibition-fair, this year it is the 11th in a row, which will bring together writers, publishers and representatives of the creative intelligent people from different countries to discuss current issues of literature and culture.
The Minsk International Book Fair continues to be a significant event in the cultural life of Belarus, contributing to the strengthening of international ties and the popularization of book culture.
