The International Cooperation Faculty was established in accordance with the decision of the BNTU Council dated 07/30/2021 (minutes No. 12) and the Rector's order dated 09/03/2021 No. 54-P in order to provide a strategic direction for increasing and fulfilling the tasks of exporting educational services and further improving the BNTU's activities in training specialists for foreign countries, improving admission and organizing educational improving the effectiveness of socio-pedagogical, psychological and educational work, ensuring constant monitoring of academic performance and attendance, strengthening legal education and prevention of offenses among and against foreign citizens studying at BNTU, organizing and developing various forms of international relations at BNTU, as well as coordinating the activities of all university departments in terms of fulfilling the tasks of exporting educational services and developing international cooperation in education and science. |
The main mission of the International Cooperation Faculty is to ensure the internationalization of the university's activities and increase the recognition of BNTU as a modern scientific and educational center in the global educational space by implementing the university's development strategy and accumulated experience in educational, scientific, innovative and technical fields. One of the main activities of the FMS is the organization of training specialists for foreign countries, as well as sending citizens of the Republic of Belarus to study abroad. Special attention is paid to the adaptation of foreign students in the Republic of Belarus, as well as their involvement in the social and scientific life of the university.
The International Cooperation Faculty provides organizational, technical, information and methodological support for BNTU's international activities aimed at integrating the country's leading technical university into European and global educational systems, gaining additional opportunities for accelerated development and competitive advantages, and strengthening BNTU's authority in the international arena.
Today BNTU is one of the multinational and multicultural educational centers. The University has a well-developed multifaceted international activity aimed at internationalizing the university through scientific and educational projects and programs, participation in international university networks, organization of staff and student mobility, development of international educational programs for international students, holding international conferences and seminars.
International cooperation is an integral part of the activities of the Belarusian National Technical University and an important tool in ensuring the quality of education and its compliance with all international standards. BNTU's international activities are carried out through cooperation with leading foreign universities, research centers and organizations. The University has numerous foreign contacts and successfully cooperates with numerous foreign universities. The University's partners are over 250 universities and research and educational centers from more than 50 countries of the far and near abroad.
BNTU's international reputation and prestige are largely due to the long-term work of the university's staff in educating foreign citizens. Training specialists for foreign countries is an international practice that contributes to the growth of the prestige of the national education system, the prestige of the university, its recognition in the global educational space and, importantly, ensuring the inflow of foreign currency and investments not only to the university, but also to our country as a whole. BNTU has been training specialists for foreign countries since 1960. Over 60 years, more than 9,000 foreign specialists from 120 countries have been trained. For many of them, studying at BNTU-BGPA-BPI has become the key to a successful career in their homeland.
In accordance with the national export development program, BNTU annually increases the number of foreign students. Today, more than 6,000 foreign citizens from 55 countries of the far and near abroad study at BNTU and in the educational programs of BNTU in the world. The number of foreign students at BNTU has increased 3-fold over the past 5 years, and the share of foreign citizens in the total number of BNTU students has also increased significantly over this period from 3% to 15%, which corresponds to the level of leading European universities.
As part of BNTU's ongoing educational policy to diversify service exports, the Belarusian-Uzbek Interdisciplinary Institute of Applied Technical Qualifications in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), the joint Faculty of Engineering and Technology of BNTU and the Tajik Technical University named after Academician M.S. Osimi in Dushanbe (Tajikistan), the joint faculty of BNTU and Tashkent State Technical University are currently open and successfully operating. University of Transport, in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), BNTU International Training Center, in Colombo (Sri Lanka). In addition, work is underway to open a joint preparatory faculty of BNTU in Uzbekistan on the basis of Tashkent State Technical University named after I. Karimov. Today, BNTU implements more than 70 joint educational programs in 4 joint educational institutions and 18 universities in 65 specialties in the People's Republic of China, Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, India and Sri Lanka.
